![]() ![]() ![]() It would tie you over until you go home for dinner. One way around these awkward times is to have a couple of fresh ingredients along with protein powder in the office and prior to the meeting blend a protein-packed smoothie that you can drink instead of guzzling more coffee. Let’s suppose you work awkward hours, like my hubby, and find yourself usually teleconferencing during meal times. The blender itself is small, lightweight and easy to store. Multiple bottles allows us to have our own preference with minimum fuss. In our household flavours vary as hubby likes vanilla, I prefer coffee and our daughter is a strawberry fan. Couples with different tastes can make their preferred version. By buying an extra bottle there’s a spare in case a bottle is lost or left in the office. Extra bottlesīlend’n go is a great theory if you are a single person drinking smoothies or couples with different tastes. There’s no such risk with the MyBlend because the bottle only has one open end, either for the blending blades or the lid for sealing the contents. Have you ever been distracted and forgotten to put the lid on your blending jug and you’ve turned the power on? If not, you can still imagine the outcome followed by the clean up time. No such problem with the MyBlend 600ml bottle. Research studies, whilst not conclusive, have indicated that BPA can seep into food and beverages from containers and potentially be harmful to ones health. Here’s why: BPA free bottleīPA is an industrial chemical known as Bisphenol-A and it’s a main component of polycarbonate that is used to make water bottles and food storage containers. Putting their motto to the test, hubby and I have been experimenting with creamy, icy and non-dairy recipes and concluded that the Oster MyBlend is a terrific addition to our kitchen appliances. For the last 55 years the Oster Brand has been a trademark of Sunbeam Products. When Oster’s company bought Steven Electric Company in 1946 with the acquisition came the patent for a liquifying blender. Having never heard of the Oster brand, I was surprised to discover that it’s been around since 1924 when John Oster established a small company specialising in hair clippers. The Oster MyBlend delivers on all four criteria plus more and finally supersedes my hand held blender with its open beaker, a power button that I have to constantly hold whilst blending and its inability to crush ice. DurabilityĪs a smoothie junkie, I like to have gadgets that are fast, space efficient, easy to clean and convenient to handle. If you are going to wash by hand, you may need a brush if you have larger hands, as getting all the way into those tall, narrow cups might be a challenge. The Oster® Brand Promise: Performance. The cups, lids and blade assembly are all top-rack dishwasher safe. But since this isn’t the personal blender’s primary function, this is still a great value. We didn’t love making nut butter in this one the result was less evenly ground than some other models, and scraping it out of those long, narrow cups was a hassle. The cups are tall and narrow, so they’ll fit in a car’s cupholder. Adding to the value part: The Ninja comes with 3 20-ounce cups, with 2 ready-to-drink lids and 1 storage lid, so everyone gets a smoothie to go. It manages to do all that with a relatively small footprint the base is only 7 inches tall and 4½ inches wide. It boasts a 900-watt motor, so it blended up smoothies with fresh and frozen fruit with ease, and crushed ice without a hitch (and all without any odor, too). ![]() Also, this model is hand-wash only, though the wide shape makes getting into the cup to clean it out pretty simple.įor a combo of good power and versatility, plus great value, this is the one. But this shape can be harder to grip for small hands, and the cup won’t fit in most car cupholders. The wide mouth makes adding ingredients easy, and it’s also easier to remove thick items like nut butter from this type of cup. One thing to note: The thick Tritan plastic 3-cup-capacity cup is wider and squatter than most other models. It comes with a storage lid and a drinking lid the latter also has a drinking cap with an adjustable carry loop. If for some reason the blender won’t start, color-coded lights indicate why (e.g., amber flashing lights mean the motor is overloaded a flashing red light means the contents are too hot to safely blend). The Beast made quick work of smoothies with both fresh and frozen fruit, blended ice into slush with just a few pulses, and made a good batch of nut butter without breaking a sweat (and without any metallic blender smell, thanks to internal sensors that prevent overheating). But it isn’t just good looks that won our favor its powerful 1,000-watt motor delivers. With its unusual hourglass-shaped design, this blender is eye-catching right out of the box.
